We are located within the area of Alton Water reservoir which is known for its nature, birdwatching and fishing as well as its outdoor activities. There is also a cycle hire and a Cafe on the opposite side of the reservoir near The Royal Hospital School in Holbrook.

From the Cabin, a 2-3 minute walk down to Lemons Hill Bridge will take you over the reservoir and into the village of Tattingstone. Tattingstone has two pubs, both providing food and one being a regular CAMRA award winner. The village also has a well-stocked vegetable and fruit stall with an honesty box, recreation field with tennis courts and children’s play area. There are two village stores nearby at Stutton and Bentley and in Holbrook there is a large Co-op supermarket providing essentials.

Tattingstone is tucked away in an oasis of countryside on the Shotley peninsula with the river Stour and the river Orwell on either side, each providing footpaths, quiet lanes for cycling, interesting villages, spectacular views and riverside pubs such as the Butt and Oyster and Woolverstone Marina and Royal Harwich sailing club. Yet Tattingstone is only a five minutes’ drive into Ipswich Marina where you can find many Cafes and restaurants. Ipswich also provides the normal shopping facilities, cinema and other leisure activities. During the months of May, June & July there are many theatre and festival events held at Ipswich venues including the Marina and Parks. Christchurch Park holds a free music festival every year in July.

Jimmy’s farm is within cycling or walking distance (directions can be provided) Or for a short drive out you can visit places like Woodbridge, Felixstowe and Manningtree and for a day trip out Southwold, Aldeburgh, Cambridge and Colchester. Manningtree and Ipswich also has mainline stations for trains to London, Cambridge or Norwich.

The Garden Cabin, Tattingstone is ideally situated for places to visit like Flatford Mill, Lavenham Guildhall, Melford Hall and Sutton Hoo as well as beautiful beaches at Frinton on Sea and Walton on the Naze.
